Our Story: Roots of Resilience and Healing at LinSisterHerb 

In the 1980s, sisters Susan and Jane arrived in New York City as young immigrants from Asia. The move was not easy. Adjusting to a whole new world took time and heart. But they always believed in the real benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It’s this old way of caring for the body using plants and herbs straight from nature. These gifts from the earth have helped people feel better for thousands of years. They help bring back energy, what we call qi, and make daily life a little easier. Susan and Jane wanted to share this beautiful culture and its wisdom with America, so others could try natural ways too.

That belief led them to start Lin Sister Herb in 1986. It was just a small herb shop at first, to share TCM with the Chinese community and anyone curious about natural ways to feel good. Susan stepped up right away as one of the main herbalists. Her kind heart and smart advice made every visit special, building the trust that still holds strong.

Soon, more people came, and their brother Frank, a dedicated herbalist with profound insight, joined as a fellow main herbalist and lead guide. Side by side with Susan, he mixed old TCM ways with a fresh, caring touch. Even after Susan passed in 2012, her love and know-how live on in everything we do.

Lin Sister Herb is still all in the family, and that means so much. Sing, Frank’s wife, has been at the front desk for years. She became the friendly face every customer came to see, a place to share stories, get real help, and build connections that go way beyond just buying and selling. Those chats turned into true friendships that helped grow the shop through good days and hard ones. Grandma (Pau Pau to the family, Gran Gran to friends) pitched in too back then, with her strong hands and big heart keeping things going. And a big thanks to the team beyond family: folks who’ve stuck with us 30+ years, bringing their stories, laughs, and hard work that make this place feel like home.

We love how TCM fits with other kinds of care, like Western medicine. It pulls from nature to help with qi, small aches, and finding balance. No big promises, just real options to try on your own road to feeling better.
